PAINTER'S BLOCK!
'I'll never be able to paint well'! How many painters have this feeling of doubt invade their thoughts every now and then?
Feelings of hopelessness, inability to fulfill that inner desire to express themselves with paint, feelings of being incomplete etc etc. This is not so common in the beginners as they are so occupied with feelings of energetic enthusiasm in learning different techniques in their newfound creative hobby!
Phases of lack of confidence are common amongst painters. It is well documented that even the Old Master Painters went through these feelings of temporary uncertainty in their capabilities as artists.
What to do about it?
Having a spring clean, with perhaps soothing music in the studio, looking through past sketches and unfinished studies can bring renewed inspiration! Your creative desires to produce some worthwhile work will return. Just consider these unhappy feelings to be a temporary block and nothing to be too concerned about. Get busy with some other occupation that you enjoy such as gardening, cooking or a craft and you may be so pleased later on that you took some time out.You may well look back at it as a landmark in your progress to better your artistic talents and bring satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment as an artist. So never give in to these bad feelings. Leave it a while as suggested and then pick yourself up, brush yourself off and away you go again!!
Once this painting lark grabs you it is not likely to leave you for long!!
