Nobody wants to be labeled incompetent! Like most things as in painting too, there is much to learn and practice is vital to take us to competence and satisfaction.
The hobby of painting pictures usually starts in a relaxing way to occupy spare time away from the work environment which is what hobbies are meant to be. This can be very rewarding and enjoyable.
However, more and more challenges present themselves as we become more absorbed in this creative and pleasurable activity. We are made aware that there is so much to learn and that really working at it is the only way to make good progress.
A good attitude to the time we need to spend practicing techniques for example, whether in tuition classes or taking instructions from art books, makes us aware just how much we do not know and also we come to realize how much work established artists have put into learning their skills whether with a natural talent or not.
Often we can become despondent at times and feel we will never become true artists but perseverance will lead to good results and then we can look back and admire our efforts with satisfaction and feel a sense of achievement. To feel uncertain sometimes in the learning process is normal so if progress seems slow don’t give up but keep going at it and you will succeed and become positive again and know your powers of creation are getting stronger all the time. Confidence in oneself gains strength and that leads to competence and raised levels of ability which brings in turn self satisfaction and pleasure.
Enjoy the journey to success!
